Cancellation Policy

  • Cancellations with less than 24 hours notice will be charged 50 percent of the session fee.

  • No-show appointments are charged the full session fee.

  • Last minute cancellations make it difficult to fill the spot with waitlisted clients. We appreciate your understanding.

Jason Bains MA, RCC, RP (Qualifying)

Jason Bains is Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) and he is the co-owner and executive director of The Counselling HUB.

He has further education and experience with treating trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, addiction, relationship challenges, and major life transitions. He has particular experience supporting people with complex trauma, attachment wounds, and concerns related to identity, south Asian culture, and family systems.

His approach is warm, direct, and collaborative. Jason believes meaningful therapy begins with feeling safe, understood, and able to speak honestly without judgement. He brings curiosity, compassion, and humour into the room while helping clients better understand themselves, change unhelpful patterns, and build a life that feels more grounded and manageable.

Jason draws from Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), attachment-based therapy, and somatic approaches. His work is also shaped by his own lived experience of recovery, giving him a genuine understanding of how difficult—and worthwhile—change can be.

Born and raised on Vancouver Island, Jason lives in Nanaimo with his wife and twin boys. At the heart of his work is what The HUB stands for: helping people feel understood, supported, and like they truly belong.
